Biography
Karol Ann Badgett's portfolio contains compositions for solo piano, choir, voice and piano, instrumental works, chamber music, and works for orchestra. Her music has been performed by The University of Texas New Music Ensemble and The University of Texas Women's Chorus. She has received commissions from St. Edward's University Hilltopper Chorale and Zachary Scott Theater's Project Interact. Her Chamber Music for Young Players has been performed by ensembles at the Orpheus Academy of Music in Austin, The Austin Chamber Music Center in Austin, and The Interlochen Academy for the Performing Arts Summer Intensive. These works have also been presented at the MTNA National Convention in 2006.
A recipient of a doctorate in composition from The Butler School of Music at The University of Texas at Austin, Dr. Badgett has studied composition with Donald Grantham, Karl Korte, Joseph Schwantner, Kevin Puts, Russell Riepe, and Gordon Goodwin. She has a Masters of Music in composition from The University of Texas in addition to degrees in Piano Performance from Texas State University and Piano Pedagogy from The University of Texas. She has taught class piano at St. Edward's University and Texas State University and has been Assistant Instructor of theory at The University of Texas. She now has a private studio and teaches piano, composition, and theory and loves bringing her diverse experience to
students of all ages, especially young students learning
about all sorts of new music for the first time.
